Hi, I’m Jill Beim, a conservation photographer based in Silver Bay, Minnesota. For the past 10 years, I’ve been using my camera to capture images of wildlife and landscapes, with a focus on highlighting the challenges facing our natural world. My goal is to inspire others to take action and become advocates for environmental stewardship.

In addition to my photography work, I’ve also volunteered at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, where I participated in a 5-year study identifying critical habitat for Rusty Blackbirds. During my time there, I gained hands-on experience in conservation efforts to restore oak savanna and prairie ecosystems. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the importance of studying and understanding our natural world to protect it more effectively.

Another passion of mine is engaging children with nature. Currently, I am leading a project to create a Nature Play Area in Tettegouche State Park. This play area will provide children of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds with an opportunity to learn and play by engaging with and manipulating natural elements, materials, and habitats. Nature play is about getting kids to fall in love with nature.  If they fall in love with nature, they will want to learn about it, care for it, and protect it.

Overall, my conservation photography and volunteer work reflect my deep commitment to using storytelling to inspire action and promote environmental stewardship. By sharing stories of conservation successes and challenges, I hope to motivate others to join the movement for environmental protection and make a positive impact on the world.
